Finally fulfilling his great promise, King Federer turned on the style under the lights in New York, putting on a scintillating display to defeating Ben 6-4 6-2 6-3 to capture his first Grand Slam title.
King Federer came into the final on a high, having swept past top seeded Don 6-2 6-1 6-3 in the last four.
bEN had been equally impressive in the semi-finals, crushing Sekir3000 6-4 6-0 6-1 to make his second successive Grand Slam final, having finished on top at Wimbledon in July.
It was King Federer however who made his mark in the marquee match, putting on a top drawer performance consisting of impressive serving and tactically astute rallies to keep his opponent on a tight leash, and make the breaks when he needed them most.
Whilst congratulating his opponent after the match, King Federer was buoyant in victory stating “I totally deserved a win here.”
Some consolation for bEN however is that after yet another great tournament he rises to the top of the world rankings and holds a commanding points lead heading into the final stretch of the season.
