Norberto Neutralizes AMAZING ZIZOU in Shanghai Masters Final
Written by Cro Morgan
05 Nov'09 - 16:06

AMAZING ZIZOU played well but “well” wasn’t good enough as Norberto H captured the Shanghai ATP Masters title, eclipsing his game French opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6.

Norberto H continues to play well during the fading weeks of the 2009 season. In full command of his game, the Austrian veteran improved to 18-6 by winning his first Masters Series shield.

As well as he is playing, Norberto almost didn’t make it to the title match as he had to erase a number of match points in a fierce quarterfinal confrontation with Xohrum85 - a match Norberto would eventually win, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.

AMAZING ZIZOU, now 19-8, arrived at the championship match by defeating Jacagest in a pitched semifinal battle, 7-6, 7-6.

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID

Norberto H: “It feels great to win both, the Reg and the Sim title of the Shanghai Masters. This title means even more to me, as it is my first Sim title. I had some of my most enjoyable matches here, especially the match against Xohrum, in which I had to save some match-points, was probably the best match I ever played. Congratulations to AmazingZizou, who is really an amazing "Simmer,” for playing such a good tournament. I don't think that I was better than him today, but I was lucky to win the key points- and the match!

AMAZING ZIZOU: “Congrats to Norberto for this first important Sim tourney. Two victories in the Reg and the Sim Masters of Shanghai is hell of a performance."
