Tour Great RaFa Inducted into ITST Hall of Fame

The question has long been debated: who is the best player to ever wield a racquet on the PC TS1 tour? Some argue that the pioneers of the sport were greater as they faced stiffer competition. Others argue that the competition, in later years, was far better as the level of the play had exceeded the play of those who first walked the courts of the ITST.  Regardless of where your opinion may fall, few can argue with the gaudy numbers attained by RaFa during the course of his now hall of fame career.

During his three plus years on the PC TS1 tour, RaFa posted a virtually unbelievable match record of 271-18; a winning percentage of 93.8%. All told, the Argentine icon won 51 titles, including 8 Grand Slam championships and 17 Masters Series shields.

During the 2008 season, RaFa was in his prime. The dominant World No. 1 compiled a truly remarkable match record of 84-1 (98.8%), winning 19 titles, including all four Grand Slam tournaments: Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. RaFa also lay claim to eight Masters Series Shields, the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup and an Olympic gold medal.

Twice RaFa was named “ITST Player of the Year.” The award was bestowed upon him in both 2007 and 2008. Rafa remains the only person in the history of the ITST to win this year-end award on two separate occasions.

While RaFa is being inducted in to the ITST Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the men’s PC TS1 singles tour, it is worth noting that the Argentine was no pushover on the Sim circuit - posting a career mark of 166-43 (79.4%) with 15 of the wins resulting in championships.

It is with great pride that the ITST inducts RaFa into it’s Hall of Fame. Few players in the history of the game, if any, are more deserving of the honor.
